PITTING
INFO
Lots of Options: IN
YOUR ROOMS
Many racers pit in their
hotel rooms. We have a live TV broadcast
going on that keeps you up on everything (channel 66). This is a cool experience many
enjoy! Rooms have plenty of space for a couple of racers and there
is a decent size hotel table nside each room already.
FLA CRACKER ROOM
We have a large reserved
pit room trackside that many racers
pit in. Tables and chairs are provided. More information on the cracker room is in the middle of this web page.
RACE TRAILERS
There is a ton of room for trailers outside
the main track entrance. You must bring your own power. We can work
on putting trailers together if you have friends coming. You can't
park close to rooms, however, as we need to control noise for guests.

Cracker Room Setup Mon Night:
Manufacture row setup and reserved indoor pitting will begin
Mon night from 6pm-11pm. Doors will open Mon at 5am. The 'Florida Cracker'
pit room is sold out at the this
time E-mail if you want to be on a waiting list for this room. Price is $25 and includes table & chair.
This is your pit for the whole race week. You can leave your stuff
overnight. Each pit is 3' x 30" (2 people to a table). If you can, bring a 6-way,
small cord, and maybe small small shelving to stack your race gear. These
are same sizes as the last three years here at the Radisson. Let us
know if you want to pit with someone. Daily Practice
Details: Tuesday:
There will be open practice, and timed-controlled class
practice sessions for both road and oval. Wednesday:
There will be open practice, timed-controlled class practice sessions, and one practice by your heat
race. Roads practice by heat race will be the time of your actual
heats (5 mins touring / 8 mins GTP). Ovals practice by heat race may
be reduced to 2-3 minutes to allow more open/controlled practice times this
year. Thursday-Sunday:
There will be open practice before the heats start each day and before the
mains. This
helps groove the track for racing. We will have
some open practice after oval qualifying for oval cars at night
(Thu, Fri, Sat).
General Practice
Notes:
You must practice with the rules of your
class (i.e. 17.5 in 17.5 classes) and you must
be registered in that class. We need everyone's
help and cooperation. Open and Controlled practice will have racers
waiting in line. You can not 'cut' in front of the line. Exact
practice schedules will be at race. Open Practice:
This is for when time is limited, and allows
racers a chance to get on the track and turn some laps. These
are short 1-2 minute runs with 10 cars at a time
(not
separated by class). You can make a small change and run a few laps to
see how your car handles. Many cars and drivers can run in these time frames. Timed-Controlled
Class Practices:
This is where we schedule
times for each class to practice in. Controlled practice is set with the
same class order as the racing order, to simulate similar track conditions and
schedules. Schedule is based
on number of entries per class. 13.5 practices with 13.5, etc.
Practice times may vary depending on the line. Practice by Heats on Wed:
Heat races are setup and practice is
controlled based on the actual heat lineup. Heat #1 is practice #1, heat #23 is
practice #23, etc. Racers run with the drivers in their heat race from
Thursday.
After each practice, drivers marshal the next practice race. There's one
of these on Wednesday.
Qualifying
Notes: Qualifying is set up
random and heats are not stacked. We do stagger/Ifmar starts for both oval
& road heats. Each driver will be on their own race clock.
Racers must turn marshal each round. Slow cars must yield to faster
cars in qualifying. We take your best single qualifier to set the
mains (and to set the resorts). There are four qualifiers and one main
event. The top nine cars are locked into the A (because of the bump driver from the B).
Resorts:
We will have a resort after each round.
A resort is a new heat line-up based on
the previous qualifying results. Faster cars end up qualifying together.
Snowbird 'Fast Pass' Thursday Practice:
If you can not make practice Tue/Wed because
you are arriving late, we will work on allowing you to jump ahead of the line for practice on
Thursday. We did this the last couple years and it worked well.
You must let us know
before the race if you want to be included in this.
'BUMP N RUN' SATURDAY
Race Your
Way into the A-Main: A
Snowbird race tradition! This has become the crowd favorite and one of
the highlights of the race weekend, for both road and oval!
Here is How it Works:
The top nine drivers are locked into the
A-main after 4 rounds of heats. Qualifiers 10th-19th will compete in
the B-mains, which will be run Saturday after the last heat race (B-main
roads race after last road race, B-main ovals race after last oval race).
Winners of these B-mains will be able to advance into the A-mains, which are
raced on Sunday. 10th qualifier gets the famous 'BQ Screw' award, and
gets to wear the infamous Snowbird Mickey Mouse ears in their B-main. We
also have a nice Bump N Run' award to the racer that bumps and races their way into
the A-main!
SATURDAY NIGHT
SPECIAL
Stay tuned for some fun races Saturday night
once again. A Snowbird tradition!
Possibly the first ever Figure 8 race with maybe a money payout.
Also also thinking of bringing back the infamous Thunder lights out race with
glow sticks on the cars!
SUNDAY CONCOURSE
EVENT
A Snowbird tradition taking place Sunday morning. Nice prizes
given away in two categories - overall best looking and most authentic.
Entry is free! We will have flyers at the race with Concourse times.
SUNDAY POST-RACE PARTY
Last year we hired a band for Monday night and
had some food and fun poolside. With all the excitement of racers just
getting here and setting up their pits, it wasn't enjoyed by as many people
as we would have liked. There always is 100 plus rooms still reserved
on Sunday and racers are at the hotel bar and grill each year Sunday after
the races. So this year we planning on something fun for sure.
Stay tuned for this!
